“A big part of who I am today is because of my time spent at Akiva”

Hadas Levine

This week we had a very special treat at Akiva School when we were visited by one of our former students, Hadas Levine.  Hadas had been a student at Akiva School up until grade 4 at which point she moved to Israel.  Recently married and honeymooning in North America with her husband, Chen Avni, Hadas was eager to come back to see her old elementary school that she loved so much. Leaving Akiva over 17 years ago, Hadas still had fond memories and strong feelings about the school.

“I feel like a lot of the values I learned here at Akiva stayed with me.  I’ll never forget one day when I was walking in the hall and saw a piece of liter on the ground.  I picked it up and put it in the garbage. The Head of School, Cooki Levy, saw me and gave me so much praise for taking responsibility and doing the right thing.  Lessons like this were important in shaping my perspectives on life,” said Hadas.

Today Hadas is a Physical Anthropologist, studying the human evolution from a biological perspective, at Tel Aviv University.  After all these years, it is amazing that Hadas still feels such a strong connection with our school and we are so proud that Akiva had such a profound impact on her life.
